  • Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation

Oh, Char…you never cease to amaze me with your gorgeous, rose gold beauties. The Magic Foundation is no exception. Charlotte Tilbury is, by a milestone, my favorite makeup brand. Her products drip class, the skin tone range is spectacular and her packaging is just downright luscious. (Ok, don’t act as if you’ve never bought a product for its packaging!) Lets get down to business.

The goods:  Charlotte claims that it gives “flawless, powerless coverage” and is “ideal if you struggle with frustrating issues such as melasma or rosacea.” I couldn’t agree more. As someone who struggles with mild melasma, I find that the Magic Foundation gives a medium-full coverage that doesn’t appear gray on top of dark spots. It has a silky texture that isn’t runny but isn’t drying. Charlottetilbury.com claims that it is a “collagen-boosting formula that can reduce the appearance of acne in 9 weeks.” It contains mushroom extract that helps firm the skin and give a tighter appearance. It also contains hyaluronic filling spheres which help plump the skin.

My preferred method for blending is with a damp beauty blender. You can see how easily it blends into the skin.

Pictured above is the Shade 7 Medium. It has a warm, golden undertone and is my winter shade. In the summer, I use shade 8 which is a bit more olive toned.

The Pros: I find it to be very long lasting, even without a primer layered underneath. Despite it’s fuller coverage, I don’t find it difficult to blend. It covers imperfections seamlessly. I barely have to use any concealer when using this foundation. It doesn’t really have a scent so no worries for those that may be sensitive to scents. I usually use one pump to cover my entire face which makes the bottle last at least 3-4 months. I think her shade range is great and offers more warmer tones rather than lots of shades with pink undertones. The rose gold packaging is gorgeous! (Does that count as a pro?)

The Cons: If you skin is feeling like a desert, you may want to skip on this one for now. If my skin is VERY dry or dehydrated I do find that this can settle in the fine lines under my eyes a bit. If you’re feeling particularly dry, almost any fuller coverage, long lasting foundation is going to have the same results. If I’m dry but still want to use this, I’ll mix a drop or two of Josie Maran’s argan oil in with the foundation to sheer it out a bit and give it some glow. That usually does the trick. It is pricey at $44 USD but there are pricier foundations out there that don’t perform as beautifully as the Magic Foundation.

It is available at charlottetilbury.com or feelunique.com for my lovelies outside of the US.

Have you tried the Magic Foundation? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below what your favorite Charlotte Tilbury product is (I love trying new products from her line.)

You have all of the power within you to create a life that you absolutely love.

    Love, Carrie xo
