  • Welcome to carriejaboor.com!

Hello lovely! I can’t tell you how excited I am that you’re here! I’ve spent years dreaming of creating a  little space on the internet where I could share my thoughts about beauty, life and all things lovely with you. I finally made the big jump and created my website. I’m so glad I did!

Here you’ll find beauty tips, travel inspiration, delicious recipes and my ideas that I hope will inspire you to live the gorgeous life you deserve! I am a lover of communicating with people and really look forward to making this a safe, open space to talk about life (and its ups and downs,) beauty (inside and out) and whatever else this imagination can create.

    A little bit about me:

I grew up in a small town on the outskirts of Pittsburgh, PA (Go Steelers!) and currently live in Melbourne, Australia with my wonderful husband. I attended college in Pittsburgh, PA and the moment I finished it was game on for adventure! Since then, I’ve lived in NYC, on a Disney cruise ship, Orlando, FL and now Melbourne, Australia. I guess you could say I’m kind of a gypsy : ) My husband and I call it the “2 year itch.” We love adventure and seeing what the universe has to offer us all around the world.

I have many passions in my life but I’d say my top 3 are performing, beauty and travel. My life has been so rich because of these passions and I can’t wait to share stories with you and hopefully learn about some of your passions too! I remember receiving my first pieces of Tinkerbell makeup as a little girl (anyone remember the Tinkerbell makeup?! Best Christmas gift ever!) It was around that young age that I knew that I absolutely adored makeup and beauty. It was just so glamorous…I loved it! My interest in beauty products has carried with me throughout my entire life and I just love learning about makeup, skincare and the science behind them. After college, I made the big move to NYC which is where my love for beauty was intensified as I was lucky enough to work as a makeup artist at Sephora 5th Avenue and Sephora 86th and Lexington on the Upper East Side. Though I was fortunate enough to practice my makeup artistry in NYC, the art of applying makeup on others was never my passion. To be completely honest, I think it’s quite stressful! I remember doing a bride’s makeup for her wedding at St. Patrick’s Cathedral next door and my hands were shaking. Not quite my cup of tea though they were always so pleased with the outcome (and I needed a glass of wine!)

I began dancing at the age of 3 and my singing voice decided to make an appearance around age 12. I always knew that I wanted to be a performer and was extremely fortunate to attend Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA with a major in musical theatre and a minor in dance. From there, I performed at several local theme parks and went on to do regional theatre during my summers in college. During my time in NYC as a performer and makeup artist, I saw that Disney Cruise Line was holding auditions in the city. I decided to go, booked the job and started what became a 7 year career as a performer with the Walt Disney Company. It was the best decision of my life to take that cruise contract as I was able to travel the world, perform, make lifelong friends and meet my incredible husband! I won’t go on too much about it because I’m sure I’ll do a blog post about it at some point as it was such a huge part of my life. After 3 contracts with the Disney Magic, my then fiance and I moved to Orlando where I was given the incredible opportunities to perform in Finding Nemo the Musical as well as the Hoop De Doo musical revue. What an adventure!

After 2 years in Orlando, we had “the itch” and my husband was offered an incredible opportunity in his hometown of Melbourne, Australia to open up the very first Hyatt Place in Australia. So, here I am! A once small town American girl now living abroad and finding my way down under.

I couldn’t be more excited for this new adventure with my blog and am even more excited that you are here to embark on this journey with me! My goal is to reach as many people as I can and hopefully bring a bit of light to your life. It is a beautiful but crazy world that we live in and what I know is that bloggers and Youtubers have brought me a lot of joy in the past few years during some difficult times. I acknowledged how much joy they brought me and it inspired me to do the same for you. So, let’s get this party started and begin inspiring each other to live the incredible, fulfilled, truly beautiful life that we are all worthy of living! Thank you for being here and as my husband always says…”cheers!”

    Love, Carrie xo
