  • Five Things You Need In Your Morning Routine

Confession: I am obsessed with morning routines. I love seeing how others start their days and how they get themselves set for success. I would be lost without my morning routine.

Whether I’ve got a million things to get done or if I’m just taking the day off, I always start my mornings the same. It creates consistency, a vibe. Something I’ve definitely needed during the pandemic!

Here are a a few things to try in your morning routine that might just help you have your best day. Thank me later.

    1 Music

This is a new one for me. Somewhere in the midst of January, I discovered Spotify and started listening to Coffee House jams in the morning. It is so relaxing and sets a cool, fresh, relaxed mood for the day. I lightly listen to my music as I sip my lemon water and journal. Which brings me to my next point.

    2 Write

Write anything! You don’t have to compose the latest and greatest novel and you don’t have to tell your deepest darkest secrets to your journal at 7am. Just write. Sometimes, my journaling is literally just a few random thoughts. I’ll write positive affirmations or what I did the night before. It’s relaxing and helps get those creative juices flowing in your head. Nobody’s going to see it so write whatever comes out.

    3 Air

This can be a tricky one depending on the time of year and your climate. I live in Florida so opening the windows first thing the morning is a must. I open my windows and put my plants on the windowsill. Even just watering my plants and connecting with something living is incredibly therapeutic in the morning. Fresh air running through your home does wonders for the soul. Let it in!

    4 Fancy Coffee

Ok. I know this may sound extra. BUT taking a second to add that little touch to your morning joe will make it feel extra fancy and put you in a mood. Even if you’ve got two kids running round or are late for a Zoom meeting, taking an extra minute to toss some almond milk in a frother will instantly elevate your morning. My go to: a Trader Joe’s ristretto pod with frothed almond milk, sprinkled with cocoa powder. My own little cappuccino.

    5 Candles

Early morning candles are one of my favorite things in the world. I love the glow before the sun comes up and the way they light up a room without turning on lamps or overhead lighting. Candles are magic. Light them and let them make your morning extra special and soothing. Tip: If you’re prone to headaches, as I am, opt for fragrance free candles for your morning glow. Never underestimate the power of an unscented tea light.
