  • 5 Simple Ways to Change Up Your Beauty Routine (without buying a single product!)

In a bit of a beauty rut? It’s ok, we all end up there at some point! Maybe you’re sick of your lipstick or you’ve realized that after 10 years of using the same eyeshadow shades, they just aren’t working for you anymore.

I’m all about “shopping your collection” and enjoying the products you already own. In a world where Instagram #shelfies are in and “more is more,”  I’m going to show you how to change up your look by using the most minimal effort (and products.) Follow along!

    1. Ditch the Lipstick

Wow. Even I’m feeling my head to make sure I don’t have a fever. Not using lipstick is basically a sin, right?! Well, not necessarily and especially not if you’re trying to shave off a few years.

Overly lined and lipsticked (I made a new word) lips can instantly add years to the face. Glossy , balmy lips give that “I just woke up like this” look that we achieved in our early 20’s. Use any of your glosses or balms alone and see how fresh faced you can look! A few of my all time favorites are the Dior Lip Glow in “Coral,” Bobbi Brown’s extra balm and the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb.

    2. Multi Task with Your Bronzer

One of my favorite ways to quickly pull any look together is to use bronzer several different ways. If you’re sick of your eyeshadow looks, ditch the shadows altogether and just dust a bit of bronzer in your crease to add definition. Let go of your beloved gel liner and line your eyes with bronzer to give a soft, understated smokey effect. Of course, you can’t forget to bronze up the skin! Try bronzing a bit more than you normally would under the cheekbones, along the jawline, along the hairline and on the nose. Voila! Get ready for people to start asking if you just returned home from the Caribbean : )

    3. Play with Color

I KNOW that you’ve got at least one palette that has a few funky colors that you’ve never used. If you really want to switch things up, try using just one fun color on the lid. My favorite way to do this is to use just one single shade and sweep it on the lid up into the crease. Bold, chic, different!

    4. Change up Your Part

Perhaps the quickest and most dramatic way to change up your look is to part your hair differently. You could wear red lipstick, go bare faced or wear ALL the glitter, but the second you switch up your part, people notice. If you always part your hair to the side, simply switch the part to the opposite side. It takes a bit of getting used to, but it will give a completely different look to the face. Are you blessed to have symmetrical features? Try parting your hair in the middle as it will balance everything out and let your striking features shine!

    5. Up your Brow Game

Strong brows can have a completely transformative effect on one’s look. If you’re more of an “au natural” kind of gal or guy, try creating a bolder look, just for fun. Use your eyebrow pencil like Benefit’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil and really take the time to fill in any gaps. If you want an even stronger look, use an eyeshadow like Bobbi Brown “espresso” and lightly dust over your brow arch. Brows truly do shape the face and can add dimension and a little something extra to any look!

I hope these little ideas give you a bit of inspiration to change up your beauty routine! Beauty should always be light hearted and never overcomplicated. And the best part is, if you try something new and don’t like it, you can wash it right off.  Have fun playing!
