The first thing I do the second I arrive back in America is find a Starbucks and order my beloved Iced Caramel Macchiato. Living in Australia has given me a completely new appreciation for coffee. Australians are VERY particular about their coffee which is understandable as the coffee is some of the best in the world!
But sometimes, you just want to indulge in a decadent, slightly flavored but not too sweet coffee that is perfect for a sunny afternoon. It’s dairy free, tastes even better than the Starbucks version and is completely Instagram worthy. And the best part? It couldn’t be easier to make! I discovered the dairy free Caramel drizzle over on Dani Spies’ “Clean and Delicious” Youtube Channel. Definitely check out her channel for some wonderful recipes and healthy living tips!
Now…onto the drool worthy drink!
What you’ll need:
12 oz cold brew coffee or 2 shots espresso
1 handful of ice cubes
1 cup almond milk or any dairy free milk
1 1/2 tsp coconut oil
1 1/2 tsp pure maple syrup
1 pinch of salt
1 1/2 tsp almond butter
What you’ll do:
Into a microwaveable glass, add maple syrup, coconut oil, pinch of salt and almond butter. Microwave for 15-30 seconds or until melted completely. Set aside to cool. As it cools, it will thicken.
Grab your favorite glass or a mason jar and drizzle caramel sauce down the sides of glass. Add ice cubes and milk (I like to froth my milk on the cold setting of my milk frother to make it extra fluffy.)
Add coffee and top with leftover caramel drizzle.
Sip coffee slowly, close eyes and imagine that your feet are in the sand. : )
Enjoy!
Love and light, Carrie xo
Yum!
