  • My New Obsession: Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Lipsticks

I’ll admit…I’m a bit of a lipstick snob. There are certain beauty products that I don’t mind spending a few extra dollars on to receive the best quality possible and lipstick falls into that category. My favorite brand of lipsticks to date it Charlotte Tilbury (her formulas are like no other) but I must say, Bobbi comes in at a very close second!

I recently received an incredibly generous PR package from Bobbi’s team with 7 of her new Crushed Lip Color Lipsticks inside. I think I cried, then fainted, then woke up, and fainted again, lol. Ok, that’s a bit overly dramatic (shocking) but it was like Christmas morning in the Jaboor household! I say that because I’ve mentioned several times on here how special Bobbi Brown products are to me as I’ve received them each Christmas for many years as a gift from my mom. Clearly, she has fantastic taste. : )

Ok, enough getting sentimental about products (I’m known for doing that.) Let’s talk shades, formula and why this lipstick will now be a staple in my routine.

Bobbi’s description of this lipstick reads “The look of a lipstick meets the feel of a balm.” That is exactly how I would describe the texture. I have just recently started getting into lipsticks in these last few years. I’ve always been more of a balm gal and I think that is why I adore this formula. It is ultra hydrating but also has a great color payoff.

Bobbi also claims that these are “rich in pigment” which I do agree to some extent. However, what I love about these lipsticks is the fact that I was sent the darkest shade in the collection called “Darling Daladid” and when I applied it to my lips, it gave a gorgeous, berry toned flush of color. I was expecting my lips to be a dark purple (almost black) and was pleasantly surprised with the medium but buildable coverage. I received several of the darker shades such as “Ruby,” “Telluride” and “Cranberry” and I can build each up to give a bold lip or sheer them out to give a flushed, barely there look. Think Fresh Sugar Balm meets a MAC lipstick.

The original Crushed Lip Colors did so well that they decided to launch three new Crushed shades with their “girl crushes” in mind. Each shade was hand selected by the three lovely ladies that Bobbi chose to represent this campaign-Sazan Hendrix, Molly Chiang and Dalal AlDoub. I was sent the gorgeous shade “Darling Dalalid” (pictured below) which was chosen by the beautiful Dalal AlDoub. Dalal quoted “A deep color makes me feel powerful, so I wanted to remind anyone who wears this lipstick they are powerful by swiping on this lush berry shade.” I absolutely love this! I swiped this shade on my lips for the first time on my Instagram stories and couldn’t believe how gorgeous it was! I honestly thought that it would look almost black on my lips but it is the most flattering berry shade. Just stunning (and I absolutely felt powerful while wearing it!) : )

I love that we are slowly stepping away from the dried down matte look that has been ever so popular for the last few years and embracing more breathable but buildable formulas. These Bobbi Crushed Lip Colors are bringing a fresh vibe to the lipstick scene and are the perfect addition to your summer makeup routine (or winter routine if you’re in Australia!)
