Having sun kissed, glowy skin is probably my longest lasting beauty trait to date. There is something about having a tan that just makes me feel extra fabulous. Whether I’m wearing a sundress in Sydney or a cozy sweater in Melbourne, I always like to bronze up my skin and keep a year round glow.
My hesitancy with self tanners had previously existed simply because I could never find the right one. In fact, I hated everything about them! The smell, the color, the way they would stain my beautiful white sheets…they were the worst.
Fast forward ten years and self tanners are now so technologically advanced that I actually prefer their color to an actual tan! The new self tanning mousse from Bali Body is absolutely no exception.
Bali Body has just launched their brand new Ultra Dark Self Tanning Mousse. It is made with 100% natural DHA and is vegan and cruelty free. The formula is free of parabens and sulphates and is suitable for sensitive skin (which I definitely appreciate!) It is enriched with nourishing natural extracts and oils which makes it incredibly hydrating. The consistency of the mousse is smooth and not at all sticky. Sometimes, I find that tanning mousses are so thick that they are difficult to spread. This mousse is so smooth and almost air whipped that I find I’m actually using less product than I normally do in my tanning routine.
One issue I’ve always had with self tanners in the past is the smell. I am incredibly sensitive to scents and am not willing to sacrifice a tan for a migraine (sounds dramatic, but trust me, I speak from experience.) The Bali Body Ultra Dark Tanning Mousse has a faint slightly floral/light citrusy smell that does not linger. I also LOVE that it is tinted so that I can see how much I’m applying.
Upon application, the mousse feels incredibly light and dries down quickly, which I appreciate. There is nothing worse than standing in front of a fan for 20 minutes waiting for my self tanner to dry (don’t laugh, you know you’ve done it, too!) The Bali Body Luxe Tanning Mitt is the best way to apply the mousse as it distributes a light layer evenly. You can certainly build up the product and do a second layer but I find it not necessary. If you want a darker color (and to look like you just came back from the Caribbean) I would suggest leaving the mousse on the skin for 6-8 hours. 3-5 hours will give you a lighter glow but will still be just as stunning. I like to go medium intensity with my self tanning routine so I’ll leave the mousse on for 4-6 hours and rinse off in the shower.

Now, time for the face! My face and neck are always so much lighter than the rest of my body due to exfoliation and ultra high daily sun protection. Bali Body also has their Face Tan Water. In my opinion, this is self tanner of the 21st century! The lovely lightweight texture of the water makes this face tanner exceptionally user friendly. It can be worn under makeup or at nighttime. My favorite way to apply is after cleansing and before serums and moisturizer. It gives a realistic golden glow and doesn’t have an overpowering scent. Pair this with the new Ultra Dark Tanning Mousse and your friends will be asking you what you got up to on your holiday : )
So, there you have it! My self tanning routine that I am currently relying on to keep me healthily golden throughout the Australian summer.
Thank you so much to Bali Body for sponsoring this post and helping me to continue doing what I love which is share my life with you! Let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried anything from Bali Body and if you have any exciting holidays/vacations planned for the near future!
