  • A Few Of My Favorite Things-July 2018

It’s that time again! I love sharing my favorite new finds with all of you and I’ve got plenty to share from these last few months. I haven’t’ done a “favorites” post in ages simply because I like to wait until I really have a great lineup rather than just sharing things to share them. And we’ve certainly got a great lineup this month!

Without further ado, here are a few things I’ve been loving recently!

Kora Organics Rose Quartz Heart Shaped Sculptor

If you’ve been a part of this community for awhile, you’re already well aware of my love for facial massage (and Kora Organics. Duh.) I’ve used my trusty jade roller for ages but recently wanted to step up my game. This Kora facial sculptor is the perfect shape to really get into the definition of the face and truly drain out that unwanted liquid. I use it mostly around my jawline to relieve any tension (tmj anyone?) and also to sculpt right under my cheekbones. The rose quartz is known for having various healing properties and it feels almost cooling to the skin when applied. LOVE this little beauty!

     Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream

I have been using this eye cream on and off for years and keep coming back to it. Eye cream was the first skincare product I started using in my early 20’s after snooping in an ex’s bathroom cabinet and seeing his female roommate’s luxury eye cream…I totally used it LOL… (judge all you want.) But after trying that eye cream, I was hooked! Nowadays, I don’t swear by eye creams. I swear by serums, oils and acids…but not eye creams. I just find basic ones that aren’t too pricey, contain caffeine and feel nice under the eye. And that’s exactly what this one is all about. Simple, effective, chic. And it’s Bobbi…she can do no wrong.

     Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Foundation

Ohhhh am I thankful for this foundation at the moment. I was actually sent this to review as part of a partnership that I have with Lancome and in all honesty, I just figured it would be another basic “longwear full coverage” foundation. WRONG! Patrickstarrr is obsessed with this foundation and now I 100% understand why. I am dealing with quite a bit of acne scarring at the moment due to a Retin A disaster (we’ll save that for another blog post) and this foundation is making my skin look flawless! Like…flawless. No, you can not cover up texture and bumps, but all of those pesky little dark spots that take forever to fade? Completely covered by this foundation. And if applied with a damp beauty blender? You.will.look.flawless. Clearly, I am passionate about this product, ha, but for very good reason! Tell ya friends, tell ya wife, tell ya kids….grab a sample!

     Tarte Knockout Tingling Treatment

It takes a lot for an acid toner to come on the market that blows my mind. You all know I love Pixi Glow Tonic and have used it for years. But also, I started using Pixi Glow Tonic 5 years ago when my skin was flawless and my hormones were apparently on a different happy little planet. These days, I appreciate an acid with a bit more “oomph!”

Now, some say this is a fantastic dupe for the infamous Biologique Researche Lotion P50, which I have yet to try (partially due to the price and partially due to the fact that I’m terrified of my face falling off.) The Tarte Knockout Tingling Treatment is a blend of lactic acid, salicylic acid, niacinamide and glycerin (amongst other punchy ingredients.) You can actually feel the tingle of the acid working on your skin (which I love) but don’t be alarmed, it only lasts for about 5 seconds and then you’e good to go. I love using this and then slathering on a hydrating oil afterwards. Using an exfoliating treatment like this will really clear out those pores and allow whatever you put on top of it really penetrate deep into the skin. I know this is a bold statement but I don’t think I will ever be without this. Tarte has truly upped their skincare game!

     Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask

I almost laughed out loud typing that! I bought this mask COMPLETELY on a whim thinking it was super gimmicky but secretly hoping that it was awesome.

    And my hopes came true!

This UV free light activated mask uses red and blue light therapy to kill off unwanted bacteria in the skin as well as boost collagen production. I don’t know a lot about the science behind light therapy but I do know that a professional light therapy treatment will set you back at least a few hundred dollars. I think this is a fantastic option to reap some of those light benefits without breaking the bank. Caroline Hirons (the mother of all skincare bloggers) quoted “I think Neutrogena is onto something with this” and clearly, that was enough for me to purchase. I’ve noticed a decrease in acne and overall oiliness since using this mask. It felt so strange to use at first but now I actually look forward to my 10 minutes of mask time. You close your eyes and the light as well as the heat almost make it feel as if you are on a beach.

And you also look like a stormtrooper while wearing it. So that’s always a bonus.

    Fresh Seaberry Cleansing Oil

I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned my love for this oil before but I just have to mention it again. I am a huge fan of cleansing oils and up until rencently, I would just use whatever balm/cleanser I had on hand. I would rub the oil onto my dry face and remove with a damp washcloth. I did this for years…until my recent stint with adult hormonal acne. The washcloth became entirely too much for my poor skin, particularly when I was using Retin A. I needed to switch to a cleansing oil that emulsified with water so I went back to using one of my all time favorites, the Fresh Seaberry Cleansing Oil.

I love everything about this oil. The scent, the texture, its efficacy, the packaging. In my opinion, it is the epitome of what a cleansing oil should be. Not too heavy, not loaded with coconut oil as some are because it’s “natural” and it’s cheap (and will also clog the heck out of your pores) and it smells divine. It does have a few essential oils but they are much lower on the ingredient list and have never irritated my sensitive skin. I highly recommend this one if you are on the market for a new cleansing oil and if you’ve never cleansed your face with an oil, you MUST give it a try! You’ll thank me later.

There you have it! A few things that I’ve been constantly reaching for lately (alongside wine and cheese.) Let me know in the comments below what new favorite finds you’ve been loving!
