  • At Home Beauty Treatments That Are Fun (And Free!)

Let’s face it…life is kind of turned upside down at the moment. No one could’ve ever imagined that a world wide pandemic would hit and prevent us from leaving our homes for weeks on end.

But amidst all of this uncertainty and insanity, I think it’s a fabulous idea to take our love for beauty and turn it into daily practices that can create routine and contentment. Here are a few fun ways to keep busy and beautiful while times are unknown and the best part of all? You don’t have to spend a dime (because let’s be real…our bank accounts could use a rest right now, too.)

    1 A Luxurious Body Scrub

Nothing feels better than stepping out of the tub with freshly exfoliated skin! There are so many fancy body scrubs on the market (that are lovely) but the good stuff actually lives right in your kitchen! Grab some old coffee grounds or a handful of sugar and go to town! You could get fancy and add a bit of coconut or olive oil to the mixture but just be extra careful in the tun as things could get slippery!

    2 A Simple At Home Mani/Pedi

I never get my nails done in a salon. I much prefer doing them at home! Grab your favorite polish and topcoat, a bit of sugar to exfoliate hands and become your own nail expert! I like to add a touch of face oil (or coconut oil) to my hands before I apply polish as it just keeps everything soft and smooth.

    3 A Soothing Bath

Baths are such a beautiful way to unwind and relax after a long day. Bump your bath up a notch and add some Epsom salts and baking soda for a super detoxifying experience. Add a bit of crushed oatmeal and lavender oil for soothing suds. Just make sure you stand slowly and take your time exiting the tub as these baths will make you extra relaxed and on your way to dreamland.

    4 A Perfectly Personalized Facial

Ok, this is where things get fun! I have been masking nonstop since I’ve been inside every day. Feeling puffy? Rinse your face with extra cold water and apply a soothing mask like Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber. If you want to take it to the next level, plug your sink and fill it with ice water. Splash the ice water in your face for 5-10 seconds (don’t try this one if you have sensitive skin.)

For a soothing experience, heat up a wash cloth with warm water , apply your favorite mask (or a DIY one like pure Manuka honey) apply mask and place the wash cloth over your eyes for 10 minutes. Off to la la land you go!

    5 A Healing Hair Mask

Last but not least, we can’t forget about our strands! Heat up a few tablespoons of coconut or olive oil and apply to dry or damp hair. Clip hair up and out of your face and go about your day! Wash out mask in evening with shampoo and style as normal. This is the perfect time to do a day long hair mask as…well…you’ll most likely be home all day!

I hope these ideas give you a bit of inspiration to make the most of this extra time we’ve been given at home. One could’ve never imagined in one’s wildest dreams that we’d be living under quarantine but as I always say, make the most of whatever life presents you. Breathe, beautify and just be. This will pass and after every storm, the sun always shines.

Stay safe. Stay well, my beautiful friends.
